Faisandier
Website Relaunch, Lost Rankings, Rebuilt Commercial Visibility
SEO · Website · Analytics
June 2026
When Faisandier rebranded and relaunched its website in August 2025, the site read clearly to buyers and unclearly to Google. The pages that should have won high-intent commercial searches were ranking for broad informational queries instead. The Data Story System started where it always starts: diagnosing what the data was failing to say, then making it clear enough for search engines to read. The result was rebuilt commercial visibility in seven months.

A Wellington townhouse developer, freshly relaunched
Faisandier builds fixed-price townhouses for first-home buyers, downsizers, and investors across Wellington and the Hutt Valley. After a rebrand and website relaunch in August 2025, the goal was to make sure Google understood what the business does, who it serves, and which pages should rank for commercially valuable searches.

Make the business as clear to Google as it is to buyers
After the relaunch, Faisandier had a strong-looking site and confident, brand-led copy. The homepage was clear to people. It was unclear to Google. The signals that tell a search engine what the business does, who it serves, and where it operates were not explicit, so the site ranked for broad informational queries rather than the commercial searches where buyers look.
Structural gaps widened the problem: missing or inconsistent headings, weak metadata, an unclear blog hierarchy, and underused internal linking.
The cost was specific. The relaunch had reset the site's visibility, and without clear signals it could not recover the commercial ground it needed. The Data Story System reads that as an unclear-data problem first and a content problem second: until Google can interpret the business correctly, more pages and more traffic only scatter the effort.
Fix the fundamentals first, then build toward commercial growth
The Data Story System starts with diagnosis, then works through foundation, authority, and iteration. Each phase made the business more legible to search before the next one built on it.
Diagnosis: read what Google could and couldn't see
Benchmarking showed most of the site's expansion territory sitting in the 11 to 50 ranking band, 32 keywords close enough to push into the top 10 with focused relevance work, and pinpointed where the signals were missing.
Foundation: make the business legible to search
The team wove targeted keywords into H1s, H2s, and body copy while keeping the brand positioning intact, closed heading gaps, fixed page hierarchy, rewrote meta titles and descriptions on priority pages, and added schema to core pages and FAQs.
Authority: build topical weight
The blog was reorganised under a clear category structure, new articles were written to support pillar topics rather than published in isolation, and internal linking was strengthened between blogs, core pages, and priority commercial pages. The same structure positioned the site for AI-driven and GEO discovery.
Iteration: benchmark and set the next stage
Benchmark against competitors, then set the next stage: commercial pages, backlinks, and higher-intent terms.

Stronger visibility, broader keyword coverage, a firmer foundation for growth
As the data became clear, performance followed. Each result traces to the same cause: Google could finally read what Faisandier does.
+79%
Organic sessions year on year in May, with positive year-on-year growth every month, from +24% to +79%, because the site's commercial relevance was now explicit.
+214%
Search impressions between the first post-launch quarter and the most recent, now above 19,000 a month, with 615 keywords ranking in Google's top 10 and average position lifting from 8.7 to 6.2. The site surfaces for more of the searches that matter.
~2x
Average engagement time roughly doubled, as clearer structure brought better-matched visitors to the right pages.
Clarity moved the site past launch recovery. Google now reads Faisandier as a townhouse developer in Wellington, the site is placed to compete for commercial terms, and its structure is ready for search as it shifts toward AI.
What seven months of foundational SEO teaches you
Clarity before scale
The first months of SEO are foundational signal work that no one sees. It comes before traffic growth, not after.
Brand-clear is not search-clear
A page can read well to people and stay unreadable to Google. Commercial relevance has to be made explicit.
Content needs a job
Pillar structure, internal linking, and search intent create momentum. Publishing volume on its own does not.
Clarity compounds across engines
Clean structure, schema, and entity signals serve traditional search and AI search at the same time.
Foundations are the start, not the finish
Seven months in, the visibility is rebuilt and the commercial-ranking phase is next.
Foundations first, then commercial growth
After the relaunch, Faisandier's business was clear to buyers and unclear to Google, and the site was ranking for the wrong searches. The Data Story System brought clarity by rebuilding the signals Google reads: page copy, structure, metadata, schema, internal linking, and pillar content.
Seven months on, organic sessions are up 79% year on year, impressions have more than tripled, average position has lifted from 8.7 to 6.2, and engagement has roughly doubled. The site now competes for high-intent commercial terms and is positioned for AI search. Clarity is what made the recovery possible.
