A website that moves as fast as your marketing.
We use AI-assisted development to build and change code-first websites in days, with analytics, SEO protection, and measurement built in. Campaigns launch on time. Tests get run. Your site improves as quickly as you learn.
Your strategy is ready. Your website is not.
Every campaign waits on a landing page. Copy changes become development tickets. CRO ideas sit in a backlog while the moment they were designed for passes.
Eventually, the development queue starts deciding your marketing plan. You run what the site can support rather than what the evidence says you should do next.
AI makes development faster. The operating model makes that speed useful.
In plain terms: we use AI to write and change your website's code, guided by our strategists and designers. Pages ship in days instead of months, and every release is set up to show you what is working.
AI-assisted development
AI writes and revises the code under the direction of our strategists, designers, and developers. This compresses the production work between an approved idea and a working page.
Code-first delivery
Pages are built as fast, structured components rather than assembled through a restrictive page builder. Changes move through a controlled release process, keeping the site consistent and maintainable.
Measurement from the first release
Analytics, search monitoring, and conversion events are part of the build. Each release produces evidence for the next one.
We use AI to build your site, so publishing is faster, data-backed, and no longer the bottleneck.
Our strategists and designers direct the work while AI writes and changes the code. Each release is measured, so the next decision is backed by data rather than guesswork, and marketing stops waiting on a development queue.
The loop repeats with every release.
AI makes the first release faster. The measured loop is what makes each one build on the last.
Why a marketing manager would consider it
Use AI-assisted development wherever your website, CMS, or development process is limiting what marketing can test, launch, and learn from.
Full website rebuilds
Move to a faster, more flexible website with analytics, SEO migration, and conversion measurement included from the beginning. The new site launches quickly, without treating search protection and instrumentation as separate projects.
Campaigns and CRO testing
Ship landing pages, new page structures, value propositions, forms, and booking-flow changes while the opportunity is still current. Your testing roadmap runs at the speed of the evidence rather than the development queue.
Production pilots
Launch a new content hub, customer journey, or product surface beside the website you already have. Run it on a subdomain, measure it against the existing experience, then decide whether to scale, consolidate, or stop. You invest in a working asset rather than a disposable prototype.
Data-driven tools and platforms
Build the experience your CMS cannot support: searchable directories, comparison tools, interactive maps, planning tools, personalised content, or pages generated from structured data. The underlying data becomes reusable across pages and products, so each new release costs less than the first.
Prove the next platform before replacing the current one.
A full replatform is not always the right first move.
We build the new experience beside your existing website and let both run during a defined measurement window. The pilot ships with analytics, search monitoring, and conversion events already in place.
Your existing site
Keeps running, unchanged
New pilot
Built on a subdomain
Measurement window
Analytics, search, and conversion live from day one.
This protects the search equity and functionality the existing site already has, while giving marketing room to test something better.
We tested the model on our own website.
AI wrote the code for the rebuilt datastory.nz. The site went through a complete platform and URL migration while overall search visibility held.
Organic traffic held flat through the platform and URL migration
The site shipped quickly without trading away the traffic and search equity the previous version had earned.
AI-assisted development, in production for teams like these.

AI can write the code. It cannot decide what deserves to ship.
A fast build can still produce the wrong message, weaken search visibility, miss conversion tracking, or leave the marketing team with another site it cannot learn from.
Data Story is a data and marketing agency before it is a website builder. We use customer behaviour, search data, analytics, and journey-stage evidence to decide what the site needs to do. Then we use AI to reduce the time between that decision and a live release.
The difference is data for strategy:
- UX and copy grounded in evidence
- Analytics and conversion events included in the build
- SEO and migration protections checked before launch
- Performance monitored after release
- Each result used to decide the next change
The website is yours, not ours to hold.
You own the code, content, data, and design. We build on mainstream technology, document the system, and use standard development patterns.
The website can be transferred to another partner or brought in-house at any time. Working with Data Story helps it evolve faster. It does not keep the site running.
Common questions
Can our team still update the website?+
Yes. The right editing model depends on who owns which content and how often it changes. Stable, performance-critical pages can remain code-first, while frequently updated content can use a controlled editing interface. We design the operating model around your team rather than removing the CMS by default.
Can you migrate an existing site safely?+
Yes. Migration safety is part of the build, not a separate project. Before launch we map every existing URL to its new location, set 301 redirects, and carry across metadata and structured data. We baseline your organic traffic and rankings beforehand, then confirm in Search Console that nothing dropped after the cutover. Our own site went through a full platform and URL migration with organic traffic and average position holding steady.
How quickly can a page or full rebuild ship?+
Faster than a conventional build, because AI compresses the production work between an approved idea and a live page. A landing or campaign page can go live in days. A full rebuild ships in a fraction of the usual timeline, though we still stage the migration and search checks properly rather than rushing the cutover. We scope the actual timeline with you once we have seen the pages and your current setup.
Do you work from an existing design system?+
Yes. If you have a design system or Figma file, we build from it, so the site matches your brand exactly. If you do not, we can create a lightweight one as part of the build. Either way the site is assembled from consistent, reusable components rather than one-off pages, which is what keeps it fast to change later.
How are SEO and GEO handled?+
SEO is built in, not added afterwards. Pages are server-rendered where it matters, with clean markup, metadata, and structured data, so search engines can read and rank them, and migrations preserve existing authority through mapped redirects. GEO, being cited by AI answer engines, is a related service we can layer on: those engines learn from well-structured, clearly-defined content, and a code-first build makes that structure straightforward to add.
What happens after launch?+
Launch is the start of the loop, not the end. Analytics, search monitoring, and conversion tracking are live from the first release, so we can read how the site performs and decide what to change next. You can run that improvement loop with us on an ongoing basis, or take the documented site and run it in-house.
